Executive coaching / operations: I collaborated with the executive team of the DuSable Museum of African-American History — the nation’s oldest independent museum celebrating the Black experience — to strengthen the organization’s profile before a lengthy accreditation process. I led the Richard H. Driehaus Museum and its benefactor through their third executive transition in five years, and negotiated an ongoing conversation between the founding executive director and board of the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps that ultimately led to a shift in leadership. At the Barnum Museum, I sketched out and facilitated a fast-track capital campaign charrette for the board; for International Arts and Artists, I led a deep-dive board retreat focused on strategic planning.

Capital development: For the Stewart Program for Modern Design, I designed and implemented a funding plan for the Partners in Design exhibition, its international tour, and a digital buildout. When the Museum for Art in Wood needed assistance with a large application to the Pew Center for Arts & Heritage to support its Mashrabiya Project, I provided editorial comments and help with structuring the ask. I worked with the Society of Illustrators/Museum of Illustration to refresh its brand for a major capital/endowment campaign. For the Islamic Center of Springfield, Missouri, I secured a major Federal nonprofit security grant, the first given to a mosque in Missouri; working with the Jewish Federation of St. Louis, I’ve garnered similar grants for Jewish organizations across the state. In Vermont, I counseled Grow Compost on its business expansion, and worked with the founders to secure large capital infusions.

Programs / infrastructure: With the Vermont Arts Councils senior program manager, I inaugurated the Council’s first creative placemaking granting initiative, and led pre-application workshops throughout the state. I also served as a commissioner on Vermont’s Waterbury Planning Commission, educating the public about climate-related risks to existing and planned infrastructure, and advised the Vermont Council on Rural Development and its consortium of granting and advisory organizations on amplifying access to branding and infrastructure opportunities for small Vermont communities.
